Miguel Ruiz-Poveda, extravagant painter

Painter of figures and landscapes, Ruiz-Poveda has invented a world of eccentric beings, fields, towns, things and events to celebrate a human party. Creator of powerfully expressive shapes and subtle colorings, our painter is a genuine representation of the messy but fascinating century we are here t o live, but he is also ready for culture plastic conquests. His work shows a rigorous treatment of the painter’s profession, a firm drawer’s pulse and portrait of feelings loves, humors ands surprises in the imaginary origin of a palpitating life. The trumpets and the accordions, playing in the emptiness of the mountains, are essential elements of joy that, mixed with human passion, shakes the spaces. Charanga for the skies and the trees, and for the happy beings in the celebration. An unstable dance, endless movement, that shows us women and men in an imponderable state of grace.

Miguel makes the impossible possible and, sagaciously, he conceives the unbelievable. His painting doesn’t depend on fashion, but on the far decadent messiness that, without genius and dreams, harasses us. His fulgurate moments take us to “the entrance of Christ in Brussels”, and bring us closer to  the work of so many artists that, in tough days of modern history, knew how to sing for freedom.

Luis García-Ochoa
